After a brief review or introduction to logging methods, the course will focus on the geologic interpretation of geophysical logs.

Examples will illustrate how logs and images are used to determine lithology, correlate stratigraphy, reconstruct depositional environments, characterize structure, and identify water producing and receiving zones.

M. Scott McQuown, P.G. is a senior geologist and geophysicist for ARM Geophysics in Hershey, PA. He currently manages ARM's borehole geophysics division. He has more than 21 years experience managing and performing surface and borehole geophysical surveys for environmental, engineering, and exploration projects. His interests include applying borehole televiewer technology to characterize geologic structure and define hydrogeologic conditions. Mr. McQuown received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from Bowling Green State University in 1985 and his Master of Science Degree from Kent State University in 1988. He is a licensed Professional Geologist in Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
