ARM is the first firm to successfully permit a mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) berm for a waste containment application in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  This is a significant milestone for Massachusetts solid waste management practice.  The MSE berm forms the southern containment berm of the South Hadley Landfill in Hampshire County.  The MSE berm is not only the first in Massachusetts, but also the first MSE berm to deploy a custom, proprietary design of an integrated photovoltaic system developed by ARM.  The first phase of the Massachusetts MSE berm project (South Hadley Landfill) is now complete.  ARM is presently designing an additional vertical expansion at the site, which will also incorporate an MSE berm to facilitate the expansion.
