Landfill Monitoring and Data Management
Client: Delaware Solid Waste Authority
|
The Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) has awarded ARM its second, three-year contract to provide landfill monitoring and data management services for two of its Solid Waste Management Centers - Pigeon Point and Cherry Island.
A total of 44 groundwater monitoring wells, 9 surface water locations, and 4 leachate points are sampled at the two sites on varying monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual schedules. As manager of this contract, ARM works closely with DSWA to ensures that the facilities' solid waste permit obligations for monitoring and reporting are met. ARM is responsible for the quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) aspects of data generation, management, and reporting.
In addition to the results of the sampling and analytical events, ARM's monitoring reports include:
- Trend analysis for specific analytes over time.
- Trend analysis for sampling locations over time.
- Discussion of problems or anomalies encountered during the sampling event.
- Conclusions and recommendations concerning the monitoring points and sampling event.

With the initiation of its new contract in February 2005, ARM is in the process of creating a Geographic Information System (GIS) database for spatial analyses and management of the Pigeon Point and Cherry Island data. ARM will maintain the GIS database and provide semi-annual updates to DSWA as the program continues.
