INTRODUCTION
ARM Group Inc. (ARM) is an earth resources engineering and consulting firm that was formed to serve an array of commercial, government and industrial clients. Our firm is composed of geologists, engineers, environmental scientists, planners, wetlands personnel, soil scientists and remediation engineers. Our goal is to always produce opinions, work plans, reports and remedial actions that are valuable to our clients and represent a positive return-on-investment.

MANUFACTURED GAS PLANT EXPERIENCE
Many of ARM's personnel have significant experience with the investigation and remediation of former manufactured gas plant (MGP) sites throughout the eastern United States . These projects have utilized focused and innovated investigation and remediation techniques to address impacts to soils, groundwater, surface water, sediments and air associated with former MGP site operations. Investigation activities have included the use of direct-push (geoprobe) equipment for soil sampling and well installation, geophysical techniques for the identification of buried structures and wastes, and groundwater, surface water and sediment sampling to assess the potential migration of MGP-related constituents. Remediation activities have generally involved risk-based approaches to stabilize site conditions and ensure adequate protection of human health and the environment. Hot-spot removal and containment technologies are typically favored, although ARM personnel also have experience with innovated methods such as in-situ treatment and enhanced product recovery.

From ARM's previous project experiences, ARM personnel understand the nature and extent of contamination typically encountered at MGP site. Commonly, MGP site conditions will include residual tars, dense, non-aqueous-phase liquids (DNAPLs), buried gas holders and tar wells, unmapped piping and subsurface structures, free-phase floating product in groundwater, off-site migration of tarry materials, and petroleum constituents in soils and groundwater. Although DNAPLs and tarry materials can sometimes be a significant problem, ARM also understands that the solubility of the constituents in some of these tarry mixtures can be relatively low, and the mere presence of these materials does not always result in significant risks to human health or the environment.

Based on ARM's experience with addressing the site and environmental characteristics associated with MGP sites, combined with ARM's expertise in the completion of focused site investigations and risk-based and innovative remediation strategies, ARM can provide superior consulting services for the cleanup of MGP sites on a timely and cost-effective basis.

As an example of the experience that ARM professionals have conducting environmental projects at MGP sites, the following web pages provide a small sample of key personnel resumes and selected MGP site project descriptions:
