Boltz Lake Dam

Geophysical Investigation Report

ARM was tasked by a confidential client to identify the location of the lake drain pipe reportedly located along the middle of the dam, identifying potential underground karst voids and sinkholes, identifing the depth to bedrock, and identifing if there are indications of water seepage occurring within the dam or abutments.

Project Highlights

  • ARM used a combination of the EM61 and MASW data to determine the location of the buried
low-level drain pipe beneath the dam embankment
  • ARM identified one area of locally depressed bedrock beneath the eastern portion of the dam
    crest in the MASW data
  • ARM identified one area in the dam with significant potential for seepage, allowing the client to fix the problem before it became an issue.
