Trout Run Dam

Dam Evaluations and Modifications

To accommodate the updated probable maximum flood, ARM performed various analyses to evaluate options to safely pass the design flood and maintain the bridge across the existing spillway. A comparative improvement options evaluation revealed that the best combination of cost and performance improvements to safely pass the design flood would be realized via a combination of modification to the stilling basin, the concrete spillway channel, forebay modifications and the extension of the forebay. These modifications included raising the walls of the stilling basin and forebay, addition of anchored baffle blocks to slow flow coming into the stilling basin, a new ogee spillway in the forebay extension, and soil and rock anchors to resist uplift of new and existing concrete slabs.
