 Waste Stream Sampling

Multiple Pennsylvania Locations

ARM provided a Pennsylvania Natural Gas Distribution Company (Company) with waste stream sampling, characterization and regulatory reporting support services associated with multiple horizontal directional drilling (HDD) projects located throughout the Company’s operating areas of Pennsylvania.

Operations produce a residual waste in the form of near-surface HDD cuttings (drilling spoils) resulting from various pipeline installation and replacement projects. These drilling spoils are deemed a residual waste by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) and, as a result, require sampling and regulatory reporting.

For each waste stream, ARM collected samples from the Company’s HDD contractor during HDD operations, coordinated characterization of the samples and prepared annual Form 26Rs.

Project Highlights

  • Determined the Applicable Waste Code and Volume of Waste Generated
  • Developed Description and Schematic of the Operational Processes that Produced Waste
  • Developed a Detailed Description of the Waste Sampling Method
